Staff Mobility: Chur / CH – Bucharest / RO Intensive course in Biblical Hebrew, graduate colloquium, project «Introduction to the Pentateuch»

Vom 12.-16. Januar 2016 fand an der römisch-katholischen Fakultät der Universität Bukarest eine Intensivwoche Hebräisch unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Michael Fieger statt. In drei Gruppen wurden Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene von Dr. Susanne Haury von Siebenthal, und den Doktoranden Katrin Allmendinger, Andri Casanova und Victor-Lucian Georgescu in biblischem Hebräisch unterrichtet. Im Mittelpunkt standen Leseübungen, Grammatik und Übersetzungsarbeit. Die insgesamt 10 fortgeschrittenen Studenten bearbeiteten die ersten Verse des Buches Jona, die 4 Anfänger das erste Kapitel des Buches Genesis. Der Kurs wurde mit einer mündlichen Prüfung abgeschlossen.

Am 16. Januar 2016 präsentierten dann die drei Doktoranden in einem gut besuchten Kolloquium ihre bisherige Arbeit. Andri Casanova referierte über das Buch Josua, Katrin Allmendinger über das Buch Kohelet und Victor-Lucian Georgescu schloss mit seinem Referat über das Buch Deuteronomium.

Vom 18. bis zum 21. Januar 2016 reihte sich das Arbeitssymposium «Einführung in den Pentateuch» in den Veranstaltungsmarathon ein. Dr. Emanuel Contac, Prof. Dr. Michael Fieger, Victor-Lucian Georgescu, Dr. Cristian Iatan und Dr. Alexandru Mihaila können auf einen erfolgreichen Verlauf zurückblicken und werden ihre Publikation «Introducere in Pentateuh» voraussichtlich 2018 im Humanitas Verlag veröffentlichen.

 


Between 12th-16th January 2016 an intensive course in biblical Hebrew was held under the direction of Prof. Dr. Michael Fieger at the Faculty of Roman Catholic Theology of the University of Bucharest. The students were taught by Dr. Susanne Haury von Siebenthal, and the doctoral students Katrin Allmendinger (for the beginners’ level), Andri Casanova and Victor-Lucian Georgescu (the advanced level). The focus was on reading, grammar and translation. 10 advanced students translated the first verses of the Book of Jonah, while 4 beginners worked on the first chapter of Genesis. The course concluded with an oral exam. On the afternoon of 16th January a colloquium was organised, during which the three graduate students who assisted the teaching of the course in biblical Hebrew made a presentation of their doctoral work. Ph. D. student Andri Casanova gave a lecture on the Book of Joshua, Ph. D. student Katrin Allmendinger talked about the book of Ecclesiastes, and Ph. D. student Victor-Lucian Georgescu discussed his topic on the book of Deuteronomy.

 

Between 18th – 21st January 2016 a work group focusing on the project «Introduction to the Pentateuch» was convened. Dr. Emanuel Contac, Prof. Dr. Michael Fieger, Ph. D. student Victor-Lucian Georgescu, dr. Cristian Iatan and dr. Alexandru Mihaila had a successful meeting. Their book, «Introducere in Pentateuh»/Introduction to the Pentateuch, will be published in 2018 by the Humanitas publishing house.
